KAREN L. ZDANIS, ESQ.

Karen L. Zdanis has been a civil litigator since 2001 and is licensed to practice law in New York and New Jersey. She has a background in commercial litigation and has an impressive background in all aspects of employment law, including racial discrimination, sexual harassment, fraudulent inducement, contractual disputes, severance agreements, benefits, overtime cases, and workplace torts. She has represented small and mid-sized companies and governmental agencies in employment cases and commercial litigation.

Ms. Zdanis graduated summa cum laude from The University of Scranton in Scranton Pennsylvania. She graduated from Rutgers Law School in Newark New Jersey. In addition to acquiring more than 11 years experience in litigation, Karen has a finance background and earned an M.B.A. from Rutgers University School of Business and experience consulting Fortune 50 companies in computer software for treasury departments.

She now focuses her practice on employment and labor law issues, representing both small and mid-sized employers and employees in employment and corporate litigation. She has experience in successfully litigating commercial cases, collections cases, partnership disputes and shareholder derivatives cases to trial from inception in state and federal courts. She has also successfully negotiated severance agreements and settling claims without instituting a lawsuit. She also provides advisory services including preparing employee handbooks and conducting independent harassment investigations.

In addition, Ms. Zdanis is active in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) successfully representing employers and employees in mediations sponsored by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), Federal and State Courts or a number of private dispute resolution entities. She also has appeared on behalf of individuals in arbitrations before the National Arbitration and Mediation (NAM), Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA, formerly NASD) and the American Arbitration Association

Ms. Zdanis lectures on the field of employment law for programs sponsored by the National Business Institute, the Marino Institute for Continuing Legal Education, the Rockland Business Association and the Westchester County Women’s Bar Association. In addition, Ms. Zdanis has authored numerous articles and publications for various bar associations in New York.
